The Rock Garden created by Mary Henry, a self-taught botanist, horticulturist and explorer, is the first to be designed and built to be self-sustaining with plants native to N. America. It graces a topography that offers superb collections of prominent plant families. With a strong focus on woody plants, visitors can expect to see Magnolias, Styrax, Hamamelis, Halesia, and Rhododendrons — as well as a notable collection of herbaceous plants.
